ServicesEmpty Leg Flights
Empty Leg Flights From Franklin
An empty leg is a jet flying without passengers to get into position for its next trip. We find those open flights, check them against your dates and route, and give you an all-inclusive quote by phone. The same person who takes your call stays with your trip through departure.

What an Empty Leg Flight Is and When It Fits
Charter aircraft rarely end a trip where the next one starts. A jet drops passengers in Florida, then has to fly back north empty, or it heads out the night before to pick up a group somewhere else. Those repositioning flights are scheduled anyway, so operators will often sell the seats for less than a standard one-way charter.
The trade-off is control. The original trip sets the departure airport, the day and usually the time window. If your plans have some give, an empty leg can be a very good way to fly private. If you need to leave at a fixed hour from a specific airport, a regular on demand charter on one of our light jet, midsize jet or turboprop charter options is the safer choice, and we will tell you so plainly.
Our team is small on purpose. One person learns your route, your passengers and how flexible you can be, then keeps watching for matching legs instead of handing you off between agents.
How We Help With Your Empty Leg
Looking for legs on your route
We review repositioning flights bound your way from Indianapolis-area airports and farther out. When nothing matches yet, we keep looking and phone you once a close option appears.
A quote with every cost in it
The price covers the flight plus its related fees, broken out so you know what each part is. Nothing hidden gets added once you say yes.
Checking the jet fits your party
Before you commit, we verify the seats, luggage space and cabin size. Pets can come along, and we flag WIFI equipped aircraft when a leg has one.
A fallback if plans change
An empty leg hangs on another traveler's schedule. Before booking, we go over what happens if that schedule moves, including what a regular point to point charter would cost instead.
Your day-of-flight details
The person you have dealt with from the start sends the FBO name, the time to arrive and what to pack.
When an Empty Leg Makes Sense for Your Trip
You can leave a day early or late
Every extra bit of flexibility opens up more possible legs. People who can go the morning before or the day after usually see the strongest choices.
You are flying one way
An empty leg only goes in one direction. If you plan to drive back, stay longer or fly home on another trip, you never pay round trip pricing for a return you skip.
Your route is a busy one
Aircraft shuttle all the time between the Midwest, Florida, the Northeast and western resort towns. Well-traveled routes produce more open legs.
You would rather not sign up for anything
Nothing to join and no long term commitments. You reserve the one flight that suits you and you are done.
You are flying with a few others
Since you pay for the aircraft and not by the seat, families and coworkers sharing one jet tend to get the best value from an empty leg.
How an Empty Leg Booking Works
- 1
Tell us where and how flexible
On the call we ask about your route, your passengers, bags, pets and how much give your dates have. That last part shapes everything else.
- 2
We match open legs
We look for repositioning flights that line up and explain each option, including the aircraft type and the departure window set by the original trip.
- 3
You get your quote by phone
We walk you through an all-inclusive quote and the terms if the original trip changes. You decide with the full picture in front of you.
- 4
Confirmation and the day of the flight
Once you confirm, we send the FBO and timing details. If anything shifts before departure, the person who booked your flight is the one who calls you.
What Sets the Price of an Empty Leg
Because the operator has to fly the route regardless, an empty leg generally costs less than a similar one-way charter. The size of that gap comes down to a few points we go over by phone, and you get an all-inclusive quote rather than a lowball teaser.
- Size of the aircraft
- Legs on a turboprop or light jet come in lower than legs on a super-midsize or heavy jet. Bigger cabins cost more to fly, passengers or not.
- Time left before takeoff
- As departure nears with seats unsold, operators often drop the price. Holding out can pay off, though someone else may book the leg first.
- Route changes
- Adding a stop or switching airports makes that part of the trip a standard charter, and it is billed the same way.
- Charges at both airports
- FBO and airport fees, crew overnight costs and other charges differ from place to place. We build them into the quote so none of them catch you off guard.
Questions About Empty Legs
Something not covered here? (317) 793-3689
Could my empty leg be canceled after booking?
It could. When the original travelers change their trip, the repositioning flight can shift or be dropped. We go over the operator's terms before you book and can price a regular charter as a backup so you still get where you are going.
Is the departure time flexible?
Rarely by much. The jet must arrive where the original booking needs it. We can ask the operator about a small shift, but it is best to plan around the listed window.
Am I booking the entire aircraft?
Yes. The leg is sold as the whole aircraft, not by the seat, which is why families and small groups sharing the cost find empty legs a good fit.
How early do empty legs become available?
A lot of them surface just days out, after the original trip is locked in. A few are posted weeks ahead. Share your route and we will keep checking for you.
Is my dog allowed on an empty leg?
Yes, pets are allowed. Tell us how many are coming and how big they are on your first call so we can make sure the aircraft and cabin suit them.
